Last night, to close the State of the Union address, President Obama said this:
Thank you, God bless you, and God bless this country we love.
This Red State blogger is simply outraged that he "didn’t say, as tradition, 'God bless you, and God bless these United States of America.'"
Don't you see? Rather than directly imploring Space Dad to bless America, he used the more indirect "this country we love." But WHAT DOES IT MEAN? Red State's commenters are on the case!
...my first impression on the overall note Obama was playing at the end was, This Land Is Your Land, Woody Guthrie communist sympathizer.
Maybe when he says " God bless this country we love” he is thinking of some country other than the United States of America.
Sounds plausible. Say, did we ever see that birth certificate?
