THIS PIZZA IS ART FOR YOUR MOUTH

Delicious pizza @ Mioposto

Here’s a secret: One small corner of the Mt. Baker neighborhood is actually located in Italy. This is the only explanation for the existence of Mioposto, a tiny, lovely pizzeria/Italian restaurant buttressed by verdant parks and beautiful people. Even the simplest pizzas, like the “Prosciutto e Arugula,” are crafted with top-quality ingredients in perfect balance, supported by a lightly chewy, thin-but-not-too-thin wood-fired crust. This is art for your mouth. Enjoy it while gazing out Mioposto’s many windows, and believe that your life is everything you always wished it could be. KATIE ALLISON

A CATALOG LOADED WITH SOUL AND FUNK CLASSICS

Motown Mondays @ Bar Sue

Now here’s a bankable idea: Get some of the city’s most reliable DJs together and have them play songs from one of the most popular and critically revered labels in music history. Apparently this is a branded night that also appears in places like New York, San Francisco, Chicago, LA, Portland, DC, and Austin, Texas. (You just know Berry Gordy’s taking a cut of the gross, somehow.) Of course, Motown’s catalog is so very deep and loaded with soul and funk classics, many of which never made it to radio but that deserve prime space in your mind. These jocks will make sure that that happens. DAVE SEGAL

WINNER OF THE PALME D'OR

Winter Sleep @ Grand Illusion

Winner of the Palme d'Or at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, Nuri Bilge Ceylan's drama Winter Sleep examines Turkey's class divisions through the story of a former actor who runs a mountaintop hotel while his marriage dissolves. The film is full of extended conversations and has a running time of 196 minutes, so wear your comfortable pants. "In fits and starts, this is a stunning picture," writes The Guardian's Xan Brooks. "At its best, Winter Sleep shows Ceylan to be as psychologically rigorous, in his way, as Ingmar Bergman before him."
