When Rand Paul becomes president, this is going to be Americas favorite Christmas tale, not some crappy ghost story written by an old dead British dude.

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is watching conservative Christians try to reconcile the holiday season's many messages of selfless giving with their own selfish political philosophy. My favorite instance of this willful brand of brain-fart was the Republican blogger and his commenters who tried to argue that A Christmas Carol is a conservative story, and that Charles Dickens would be Ayn Rand if he was writing today.

Look: The holiday season is partisan. Just like there's no way to argue that the Jesus Christ of the New Testament would vote for Dick Cheney, you can't argue that selfless giving is a Republican value. That's just the way it is.

One of the best illustrations I've ever seen that the conservative worldview is incompatible with Christmas was published this week by Daily Kos blogger akadjian: 21 Ayn Rand Christmas cards. I urge you to go check them out and share them on social media with the conservative uncle in your life.
