Listeria: thankfully not in your ice cream.

Snoqualmie Ice Cream, the Snohomish-based ice cream maker that also happens to supply the ice cream base for Molly Moon's Homemade Ice Cream, has voluntarily issued a recall of its products due to the presence of listeria bacteria in their facility. As a result, all six Molly Moon stores are closed for four days and will reopen on December 26. Merry Christmas!

Weep over lost ice cream, but don't panic. According to the Puget Sound Business Journal, Listeria monocytogenes was found only in Snoqualmie's production facility, not any of their ice creams, gelatos, custards, or sorbets. Snoqualmie's recall is a laudable cautionary measure. The recall is, however, especially unfortunate for Molly Moon's Homemade Ice Cream, which has long caught flak for calling its ice cream homemade despite having its base manufactured by someone else.

Update: Eater Seattle reports that Full Tilt Ice Cream is also closing due to the Snoqualmie recall. All four Full Tilt locations will also reopen December 26.
