On Wednesday night, the great American punk band Sleater-Kinney made their first public appearance since announcing their reformation and forthcoming new album (No Cities to Love, due out January 20 on Sub Pop). The site of this appearance: The Chris Gethard Show, which describes itself as “the most bizarre and often saddest talk show in New York City.” During the show, the band answered questions in a five-minute interview with Gethard, participated in a call-in Q&A, and played no music. They did, however, participate in a game called "All Hands on the Bad One" (which is also the name of S-K's fifth album.) "The rules of the game were that everyone in the band, plus Gethard and cohost Shannon O'Neill, had to keep both of their hands on a deeply obnoxious character named Todd Watch for as long as they could," writes Rolling Stone's Simon Vozick-Levinson. "The winner would get to destroy a city made of cardboard boxes." Watch the whole damn episode right here:

(Speaking of Sleater-Kinney: Yesterday Pitchfork used the band to dabble in some Onionism. And while it was the type of satire that required a live link to the Wikipedia entry on satire ("Preorder here!"), it also gave the world its first joke involving Tink, Alice Bag, and Judy Chicago, so all is forgiven.)
