Last night's big television event was the live showing of Peter Pan starring Girls' Allison Williams as Peter and Christopher Walken as Cap'n Hook, and the Twitterverse was practically salivating in anticipation—because there's nothing they love more than a good old-fashioned HATE-WATCH. Unfortunately for them, it didn't turn out that way for a couple of reasons: (1) Allison Williams kind of preemptively ruined the Hate-Watch by saying that people who only watch things to hate them are sad, depressing people... and okay, fine, she may be right. And (2) The production itself was... well, okay! Nothing hilariously terrible happened, and the worst you could say about it was it was snoozy in parts. This scene is a great example: Here's the classic flying scene where Pan gives Wendy, John, and Michael some fairy dust (HELLO, COCAINE), and the obvious wires start whipping them around the stage. Boring at first, but when the back of the set opens up to the London sky (at 3:10), things get moderately magical.

Then there's Christopher Walken as Captain Hook—who hoofs pretty well for a 71-year-old guy (jump to 2:20). Unfortunately, the rest of his performance was also like a 71-year-old guy.

Or in the words of @maureenjohnson...

But all in all (and I've mentioned this before), but I feel EXACTLY the same way about Allison Williams in this role as the kid who played John Darling (according to @david_marchese).
