THREE EINSTEINS RELEASE PARTY

Sarah Galvin and Co. @ TMRW Party
To be honest, there’s not a lot of poetry that speaks to the particulars of my batty brain. Me, I like to laugh. I don’t like fancy verses about powerful disquietude. Stranger contributor Sarah Galvin’s new book, The Three Einsteins, isn’t that kind of angsty poetry at all. Einsteins will make you laugh and feel hilariously uncomfortable. It’s perfectly fitting that inimitable Seattle drag queen Jackie Hell will perform at the book release party, and the soundtrack will be an all-female punk band called Childbirth. Stranger Genius Award literature alumni Willie Fitzgerald and Maged Zaher will also read—and it said that pizza and kazoos will rain from the sky! KELLY O

EFFORTLESS FLOWS AND CROWD-PLEASING BEATS

Fly Moon Royalty and Co. @ The Crocodile
This all-local bill is being headlined by electronic funk/soul/R&B duo Fly Moon Royalty, who have been a crowd-pleasing mainstay around Seattle venues since their formation in 2011. But show up early to catch two rising local talents: Dave B and Otieno Terry. Dave B’s skillful, dynamic, personal (but never corny) raps always have something to say, but never let that get in the way of a track actually sounding good. Otieno Terry’s multitalented singer/songwriter approach to R&B is completed by his effortlessly strong voice. And as each of their EMP Sound Off! Competition wins in recent years suggests, both can put on one hell of a live set. MIKE RAMOS

DARQNESS: A NEW DANCE NIGHT FOR QUEER AND TRANS PEOPLE OF COLOR

Reverend Dollars and Co. @ Maxim's
Darqness is a relatively new monthly dance event headed by local DJ/producer Reverend Dollars (Jarreau Greene) and geared for “queer and trans people of color.” (Straights and whites are welcome, provided they respect the concept and the clientele.) The musical menu focuses on hiphop, house, dancehall, R&B, Latin, and other ass-moving styles. Reverend Dollars’ exquisite taste guarantees no dull moments. Guest DJ for tonight is General Meow, a DJ who privileges the pleasure principle in many different musical forms. Check out one of his mixes at soundcloud.com/djgeneralmeow/moving-on-in-time. Also note: Greene requests that you keep your scented-product application to a minimum. DAVE SEGAL

CELEBRATE THE GUITAR WIZARDRY OF HENDRIX ON HIS LATE, GREAT BIRTHDAY

Hendrix Tribute @ Columbia City Theater
Jimi Hendrix would’ve been 72 on November 27, if he’d not died in 1970. Had he lived, he likely would’ve gone through many different musical phases; I’m especially bummed about never enjoying his hypothetical drum ’n’ bass period. But the relatively small amount of phenomenal avant-rock music that the Seattle-born guitarist did leave behind is enough to keep heads boggled for centuries. Hell, if he’d only released Axis: Bold as Love, Hendrix would still be considered a god. Any opportunity to hear his music in a live setting should be welcomed. Tonight you can experience his family members and other major fans paying tribute to the psychedelic and blues songs that inspired thousands to make their own music and millions to appreciate a higher level of rock. There’ll also be a ’60s-vintage fashion show and a ’60s-themed dress contest. DAVE SEGAL

THE ANITA GOODMANN TURKEY SANDWICH EXPERIENCE

Anita Goodmann @ The Pocket Theater
So now they've closed the damn Lobby. Well, technically the damn Lobby will allegedly be "relocating" or whatever (I'll believe it when I see it), but the point is, they've been given the boot. Can you feel my rage? Most terrible it is, indeed. Of course, I barely ever went to the damn Lobby (the wallpaper gives me epileptic seizures), but that's quite beside the point. Yet another long-held queer venue has been snatched away in the desperate Capitol Hill landgrab. (I'm surprised developers haven't draped the neighborhood in smallpox blankets... yet.) There are rumors that even more queer establishments are doomed to fall soon—rumors far too terrible to even contemplate! As a consequence, our queer diaspora is being flung far and wide. Where will Lily Armani and her Hashtag go? A mystery. Sylvia O'Stayformore has set up shop in both Georgetown and Columbia City, and even Anita Goodmann has absconded all the way to Greenwood, so that's where you're going to have to go see our first event this week, Anita's new Thanksgiving show, "The Anita Goodmann Experience Turkey Sandwich." It's an interesting concept: two totally different shows (the follow-up episode is Friday, November 28) that work synergistically to create a single manic holiday adventure. "They work together if you see them both!" Anita informs us, and you'll want to, what with a cast including the ridiculously ridiculous Gary Gloryhole (recent HUMP! award winner), Miss Cassie O'Hara, and Benjamin Thomas. But see just one show, see both, whatever; you're going to have to leave our hallowed Hill and burn fossil fuels to do it. Grumble. ADRIAN RYAN

"Literally" everything else to do today.
