MICHIGAN: "Two church congregations were recently warned during mass that their youth minister is accused of sexually assaulting a minor more than a decade ago. The suspect, William Miller, 61, [is] accused of sexually abusing a young person on an Ottawa County farm roughly 10 years ago. Miller currently lives on Rolling Acres Farm in the Conklin area. Court documents allege Miller coerced the victim by exerting his authoritative position. Though the suspended youth minster’s alleged victim is not believed to be connected [to] either church, a statement was read at all masses Sunday, encouraging any other potential victims to come forward."

ILLINOIS: "A Pekin man already facing charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a young child was indicted this week on child pornography charges. Nicholas A. Lawrence, 26, 200 Matilda St., faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted of the charge.... Details in the indictment were sparse, except to say that in May, he caused a person younger than 13 to appear in a sexually explicit photo. He was indicted in September on charges of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and aggravated criminal sex abuse in Tazewell County. He is scheduled to appear in court on those charges on Friday as well. If convicted of those charges, he faces up to 60 years behind bars."

PENNSYLVANIA: "The volunteer youth pastor who police said had one of the biggest collections of child pornography they’ve ever seen faced a judge Tuesday. Andrew Patterson walked out of the courtroom and hid his face from our cameras. Patterson’s wife signed court papers, waiving his case to trial. In addition to finding explicit photos and videos of children on his Monroeville home computer, investigators said the Pattersons had been living with their daughter in squalor and filth, police said."

OKLAHOMA: "Police in Tulsa, Oklahoma said that they arrested a youth pastor for allegedly sexually abusing children who he was supposed to have been helping. Court documents obtained by KWTV indicated that 50-year-old Timothy Shawn Cato used his status as a youth pastor and a volunteer at an Oklahoma Department of Human Services children’s shelter to gain the trust of children, and then sexually abuse them. 'Some of the victims indicated that they had met him through a program at a church where [Cato would lead] scouting-like activities for boys of a younger age,' TPD Sgt. Mike Brown said. Documents said that Cato had admitted to bringing children home from the shelter, bathing them, and sleeping with them in a bed away from his wife."

In other YPW news: the parents of a Texas girl who was sexually assaulted by a youth pastor are suing the church that sent him into the girl's school—a public middle school—with orders "to recruit pre-teens to church." KHOW reports:

"Parents need to be cautious," said Feldman. "This is a sophisticated marketing scheme targeting children."

The suit claims Chad Foster met his victim during lunch at a local Cypress Fairbanks middle school where Second Baptist sent their youth pastors to recruit pre-teens to church. It wasn't long before Foster began texting the 12-year-old. They talked on Facebook, and then he exposed himself via Skype sessions where he asked the girl to "talk dirty" to him and "take off her clothes". Feldman says Second Baptist failed to protect the child.... Attorneys say youth pastors aren't trained or properly vetted. In a press conference Tuesday, they called on Second Baptist to immediately suspend its youth pastor recruitment program in public schools and to identify all schools its youth pastors have visited in the last 10 years. "When you develop a relationship with children, parents need to be concerned about who that individual is," said Feldman.

Why are public schools allowing youth pastors to come in and "recruit" children in the first place? The answer is probably "Texas." But still: We all know kids aren't safe from predatory youth pastors in their churches. But shouldn't kids be safe from these creeps while in public schools? These parents should be suing their school district too.

Also, too, again: If children got raped at Denny's as often as they get raped at church... it would be illegal to take your children to Denny's.
