That 1963 male nude—by artist-who-became-famous-much-later Chuck Close—is six feet tall and on display with other surprises from the wayback machine starting Thursday at Seattle ArtResource in Pioneer Square. Close went to the University of Washington, and ArtResource's new exhibition Lineage is a full show of artists from UW down through the years. There's Close, Jacob Lawrence, Roger Shimomura, Doris Chase, Peter Millett, Michael Dailey, and more—you can watch the processing of modernism through Seattle's biggest academy. The opening is during First Thursday Art Walk, along with many other kickoffs (including the New Foundation space and a new Pilchuck space). Go!
