No one makes a film about a woman who walks across the Australian outback in order to conquer the box office, but Tracks deserves to find an audience—not least because director John Curran (We Don't Live Here Anymore) has done the story justice. Like the upcoming Wild starring Reese Witherspoon, Tracks is adapted from a memoir, and while Curran never presses the point, it's a deeply feminist work. Even today, women don't chuck it all to walk 1,700 miles across the desert, but Robyn Davidson (the perfectly cast Mia Wasikowska) made her trek in 1977…
