Have you seen Cherdonna on the cover of the latest issue of A&P, our art and performance quarterly? Did you know Cherdonna really fell, fully dressed, into a swimming pool? Here's Christopher's essay all about her, with four of the photos from our photo shoot (including her spraying her hair with Aqua Net in the hair-products aisle at a grocery store), but that doesn't begin to cover the photos we took.

I still can't believe Cherdonna was willing to fall backwards into the water like this!

  • Thanks to the Gaslight Inn for letting us use their pool!

Did you know we also asked Cherdonna to run around a Safeway, borrow a leaf blower's leaf blower, hold up a giant piece of wood we found in a trash pile, and take a shovel into a cemetery?

Check out all the EXTRA PHOTOS below!!

The shoot started with a spontaneous decision to borrow this guy's leaf blower...

Man, those things are noisy!

Then we decided to gas up the car. The sight of Cherdonna stopped an eight year old girl and her mom in their tracks. We got other funny looks too.

I brought a cold corn dog that I'd bought from City Market as a prop. This is one of my favorite photos because I love the hot pink lipstick on the dog.

After the gas station and a costume change, we tried to take a couple photos at 7-Eleven. The cashier thought we were nuts and wouldn't let us take photos inside the store. So we took this photo in the alley next to 7-Eleven.

A guy walking by jumped and gasped when he came around the corner and saw Cherdonna sprawled out on the pavement. I think, at first, he thought she was dead. We were right across the street from a hospital.

On the way to Safeway, this happened by the bus stop. She's a dancer, you can tell.

And then we found a pile of lumber destined for the trash and played around with some "Cherdonna and her wood" photos. Look, it's the Log lady from Twin Peaks!

Unlike 7-Eleven, Safeway didn't seem to mind us taking photos while we, uh, "shopped"...

At one point Cherdonna felt sleepy and found a very comfy little spot for a nap.

Don't worry, Safeway, we didn't use your Aqua Net—we brought our own in.

After Safeway and another costume change, we stopped by the cemetery. I was a little nervous about the shovel. We didn't REALLY dig a grave.

Our last stop was the swimming pool from the top of this post, at that beautiful bed and breakfast on 15th Avenue, the Gaslight Inn. Who knew they had a swimming pool? Once Cherdonna was in, she said the water was quite nice.

I think her wig held about a gallon of water...

...and even the best eyelash glue is no match for a pool.
