That Moment When You Find A Famous Country Singer's Killer Blue-Eyed Soul B-Side

Posted by on Tue, Aug 12, 2014 at 7:03 AM

Holy SHIT, this is sooooo GOOD! I'd heard Dolly Parton cut some solid blue-eyed tracks, but I'd never spent the time to track 'em down. Derp, I WILL NOW!!

The best sides are almost always hidden on the B-side—not that the "girl group" styled A-side, "Don't Drop Out," is anything to shine on.

Sounds like classic Jackie DeShannon, but with Dolly's amazing vocals. That woman can sing any style she wants.

It's been so great to see Dolly Parton slowly get the broad acclaim that she deserves. She's such a massive talent. Her three more recent bluegrass albums are amazing.

Been reading the "Man on The Run", a McCartney bio of his post-Beatles indie-rock life in the 1970s, so of course I'm digging through his catalog on Rhapsody.

Their version of the "Ram" album contains some of the additional tracks recorded, but not on the album. If you thought Lennon was pre-punk, check out "Rode All Night"!
