As far as I'm concerned, The Onion's new BuzzFeed parody site Clickhole often outpaces The Onion in terms of on-the-nose parody these days. It's been a while since I've felt the seething contempt simmering behind an Onion headline like this:

Maybe it's because Clickhole, unfortunately, more closely resembles the internet I see every day? It's so close to reality that it stings more? Or maybe it's because BuzzFeed is so rotten in its core* that Clickhole's satire effectively attacks two important subjects at the same time? I know satire doesn't do anything to alleviate the hurt and injustice going on in the world right now, but its outrageousness provides a sense of scale, a reminder that our wildest imaginations can barely outpace the horrors that reality produces every day.

* If you don't believe my assertion that BuzzFeed is evil, J.K. Trotter at Gawker posted today that BuzzFeed has quietly removed more than 4,000 posts, at least some of which appeared to demonstrate outright plagiarism. Now that they're worth a lot of money, BuzzFeed is trying to legitimize itself by pretending their shitty origins never existed.
