New and Improv'd: Table & Chairs Crew to Book Concerts at Vermillion

Posted by on Thu, Aug 7, 2014 at 2:30 PM

The local crew who run the Table & Chairs label will host concerts every second Wednesday at Vermillion Gallery starting August 13. These musicians and promoters also have been involved with the Cafe Racer Sessions in the U-District. It will be interesting to see how a series of shows—called Second Wednesdays, by the way—featuring intelligent, improvised music in the ever gentrifying and douche-ifying Capitol Hill will fare. I, for one, am excited about this development.

The bill for the first event is as follows:

8:00-8:45 - Jeff Johnson, Ivan Arteaga, Chris Icasiano
9:00-9:45 - Jen Gilleran with Neil Welch, Christian Pincock, and Simon Henneman playing live music to vintage film
10:00-10:45 - Fluke (Brian Kinsella, Gregg Belise-Chi, Chris Symer, Chris Icasiano)

The next edition takes place September 10 and will be organized by saxophonist Ivan Arteaga of prog-fusion greats Operation ID. More info on Second Wednesdays here.
