When I first wrote about Ian McMahon's summer installation Cascade at Suyama Space, the artist and curator Beth Sellars didn't yet know whether George Suyama would give his blessing for a major demolition performance in the gallery space. Such a performance would, after all, leave the gallery a haze of dust and smoke, with bits and pieces of plaster flying everywhere.

But George said yes!

The demolition performance will be Sunday, August 17, at 5 pm. It's open to Suyama Space Friends. "Friendship" starts at $25, tax deductible, and includes free publications for a year and early notices for shows and events, such as the Garage Sale, on top of entry to the demolition performance.

Only the east curtain will fall; the west curtain will be taken down days in advance to make room for the audience. Capacity is around 100, Sellars estimates.
