The General Synod of the Church of England voted today that women can be consecrated as bishops, two years after a similar measure was controversially voted down.

The vote required passage by a two-thirds majority in the synod's three houses of bishops, clergy and laity.

Way to finally catch up with the times, Church of England! Here's the point where everyone stares awkwardly at the Catholic Church for a very long time. (Confidential to Pope Francis: If you bring on more female priests, you'd probably see a decline in that one-in-50-priests-are-pedophiles number you were quoted on over the weekend.)
