It's Just a Blue Scholars Kind of Day

Posted by on Sat, Jun 21, 2014 at 11:05 AM

Is there honestly a better way to end the day we are experiencing at this very moment—sunny but cool—than with Blue Scholars? And, yes, let's just say it like it is: Macklemore's giant success is entirely built on the initial and deserved success of this duo, DJ Sabzi (Saba Mohajerjasbi) and MC Geologic (George Quibuyen), who launched Seattle into a new era of hiphop in 2004. Their show tonight, which is a part of the Fremont Fair and Solstice Parade (the Solstice Concert series), includes The Flavr Blue and the Physics—solid 206 acts.

My only request is that the Blue Scholars perform "Yuri Kochiyama," a track that's dedicated to a real American hero and political activist who, to use the words of the Intelligent Hoodlum, "returned to the essence" recently:

The beautiful, too, have been born.
