James Keblas Thanks the Mayor for Firing Him, Takes Job as President of Creature

When James Keblas was fired from the city's Office of Film + Music, a lot of people were shocked. The music community loved James. The film community loved James. Fired? Wha? Now the New York Times reports that he's become the new president of Creature, a creative agency that provides advertising and design services.* So he's gone from director to president. Fancy. He's holding a press conference today to thank the mayor for firing him:


I wish I could be there because it sounds hilarious.

Best party theme ever! I love the building where the party's going to be. Creature's offices are in what used to be working artist housing, 1517 12th Ave., until the ubiquitous Hunters Capital kicked everyone out and converted to new-economy commercial space.

And apt that a company called Creature would choose that space. Back before the artists moved in (and then hastily out), this multi-story building made up the world's largest big-game taxidermy factory. Safari-killed creatures from all over the globe got stuffed and mounted here. Their mid-60s production pace was 2,000 heads a year and up to 1,500 full bears.…

Will in Seattle 2
One of the interesting topics at film parties over the last few weeks, just overheard, has been how our current Mayor needs to listen more and not be so defensive.
