On Saturday night, Chelsea Wolfe opened for Eels at the Moore Theater for an evening of stripped-down splendor. I was initially concerned that the bill pairing would be awkward, with Chelsea Wolfe rooted in metal and goth, while Eels tend to favor pop sensibilities—but it was all for naught. The stillness and introspection that Wolfe commanded in her set was a well-crafted lead in to Eels, who needed a tamed crowd to appreciate their warm acoustic set. Both acts performed marvelously, and looked fantastic all lit up in lights.
