Boys

A quiet teenager recovering from a family shakeup finds his life changing further when he begins to helplessly trade smoldering glances with a member of his school relay team. Originally shot for Danish television, this evenhanded melodrama seems a little dull at first, until the realization kicks in that it’s mirroring real life, with a refreshing lack of cartoonish villains or thunderous pivotal decisions. Well-done and honest all around, with a final shot that feels just right. (ANDREW WRIGHT)
