Admire him or despise him, people have strong feelings about Colton Harris-Moore, aka the Barefoot Bandit. After escaping a halfway house in Renton at age 17, Harris-Moore went on the lam and became a phenomenon in the Pacific Northwest. He survived in the woods of Camano and Orcas Islands, gathering supplies by breaking into homes and businesses, and eluded police for more than two years. He stole cars, boats, and airplanes (after teaching himself to fly), disappearing miraculously. Was he a criminal or a folk hero? One person noted: “You kind of want to root for him, even though you know what he’s doing is wrong.” (GILLIAN ANDERSON)
Fly Colt Fly plays today at the SIFF Cinema Uptown at 5:30 pm.
