Two announcements!

(1) This month's party is tomorrow night. Starts at 6 pm at the Fireside Room at the Sorrento. It's free. If you've never been to the silent-reading party before, here's everything you need to know. (Except that the Manhattans are now $7. Also there is a man who plays the harp.) In addition to you sitting there reading silently to yourself, there will be two special guests tomorrow (also sitting there silently reading to themselves): Stranger staff writer Ansel Herz and New York Times-bestselling novelist Maria Semple. If you're an Ansel groupie or a Maria groupie, you won't really be able to chat them up or anything, but you're more than welcome—encouraged, even!—to pass them notes.

(2) Historically, the reading party takes a summer break, but we don't feel like taking a break this summer, so we're not gonna. Put June 4, July 2, and August 6 on your calendar. The Sorrento is working on coming up with some frozen drinks or summertime snacks or some such. More details when I know 'em.
