Eight Million People Signed Up for Obamacare

Posted by on Thu, Apr 17, 2014 at 1:06 PM

Vox says:

Eight million people signed up for Obamacare's insurance marketplaces between October and April 15, President Barack Obama announced Thursday.

The number comes in higher than the 7 million enrollees budget forecasters had predicted and after HealthCare.gov's botched rollout, which led to few sign-ups during the first couple months.

Republicans might want to rethink their anti-Obamacare-all-the-time platform for the midterm elections. These numbers look pretty successful to me.

Now they're complaining that people who missed the deadline can't sign up until the next open enrollment period.

@2:

Yeah, after they spent the last six or seven months screaming, "DON'T SIGN UP FOR TEH OBAMACARE!"

And personally, I don't think the Right is even capable of rethinking their platform; it's become so knee-jerk that if the Democrats introduced a bill banning the eating of babies, the GOP and their coat-tail hangers would find a way to oppose it.

@4 - "This anti-baby, job-killing bill is so poorly written, I simply cannot support it in its current form."

"As a physician, I can tell you I've never once encountered a problem with baby eating such as this bill purports to fix."

"If a person is hungry enough to eat a baby, no law is going to stop them. What this country needs is more mental health care and less baby control."

"According to the Totally Not Partisan Office for Baby Economics, this bill will actually increase baby eating!"

@4, 5: I have been assured by a very knowing acquaintance that a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled; and I have no doubt that it will equally serve in a fricasee or a ragout.

It's just another example of unconstitutional federal overreach. There's nothing in the interstate commerce clause that covers babies that are raised, slaughtered and sold within a single state.

The Republican base still hate and fear Obamacare, and still have no idea what it is. They have no need to rethink anything.

The sad thing is the Red Taker states that we Blue Maker Cities subsidize are making insurance and medicine cost more for all of us.

Time to send in the troops, as we did the last time they got upset.

@4 - "Today on Fox and Friends, is Obama's so-called Baby Bill a secret ploy to turn Americans into gay vegans, or is it just another distraction from Benghazi and the economy?"

@2 I wonder when they'll notice, that in that respect, it's identical to "real" employer-provided health insurance?

Here come the bleeding-heart libruls, siding with the victim again. If babies don't want to be eaten, they should stop flaunting their fleshy appendages in public.

Hear hear. If babies were not meant to be eaten then God would not have made them delicious.

Babies have 2nd Amendment rights too if they don't want to be eaten they should just arm themselves like a real American would.

@18. As a matter of fact, my husband signed up. I can't put him on my employer plan because we don't live in an equality state. His premiums went down and the quality of his coverage went up. More importantly, for the first time in our marriage, we don't have to worry about his coverage being cancelled at the whim of an insurance company.
