Al Sharpton, FBI Informant?

Posted by on Tue, Apr 8, 2014 at 6:00 AM

So says The Smoking Gun:

A lengthy investigation by The Smoking Gun has uncovered remarkable details about Sharpton’s past work as an informant for a joint organized crime task force comprised of FBI agents and NYPD detectives, as well as his dealings with an assortment of wiseguys.

Beginning in the mid-1980s and spanning several years, Sharpton’s cooperation was fraught with danger since the FBI’s principal targets were leaders of the Genovese crime family, the country’s largest and most feared Mafia outfit. In addition to aiding the FBI/NYPD task force, which was known as the “Genovese squad,” Sharpton’s cooperation extended to several other investigative agencies.

Sharpton has flatly denied most of the allegations in The Smoking Gun's story, although: "When asked specifically about his recording of the Gambino crime family member, Sharpton was noncommittal: 'I’m not saying yes, I’m not saying no.'"

It is completely unethical to reveal the identity of any informant. Fuck these assholes. I hope they get cancer or some flesh eating disease.

Every time I hear about Al Sharpton, I wonder how Tawana Brawley is doing these days.

@6 Every time I hear about Al Sharpton I wonder how Issac Bitton and his son are doing. I wonder how those Korean immigrants he harassed and encouraged persecution of are doing. Every time I hear about Al Sharpton I wonder when the racist murders of Angelina Marrero, Cynthia Martinez, Luz Ramos, Mayra Rentas, Olga Garcia, Garnette Ramautar, Kareem Brunner, Yankel Rosenbaum and Antony Grazonni will stop being swept under the rug. Look at Sharpton's boycott and harassment of Korean businesses, Crown Heights, and Freddy's Fashion Mart and ask yourself if a white man had behaved in a similar way towards blacks he would be allowed a platform in the mainstream media and democratic party.

This is old news re Sharpton wearing a wire while working for the Feds---The Village Voice ran a piece on this many years ago---the Smoking Gun and the rest of the corporate media are late to the party.

If you consider Sharpton's actions in the past 2 plus decades, it should not be a surprise to anyone that he's working for the feds.

@9 Sharpton was caught in an FBI sting selling crack. That is probably how and why he became an informant.

If Sharpton informed on the Genovese and the Gambinos, it's the one decent thing he's ever done.
