Last month, two of Maxi Cohen's photographs were included in a group show at Gallery 110. They were quiet, but they stuck with me. When I looked up Cohen, I discovered that the New York artist has been photographing in ladies' rooms for more than 30 years, from Bombay to the Australian Outback to the Rainbow Room in New York.

I am very pleased to report that not only have I been in the ladies' room at the late, great Area (157 Hudson, driver, and step on it!) but I was in there with the late, great Kara Kennedy. How cool can a life get, I ask you?

I remember going into the ladies room at the Medicine Show Tavern in the early 70's to smoke pot. It was a safe place to get high as no one really wanted to venture into that domain to bust anyone. Great place to meet women also!
