This sounds kind of familiar, doesn't it?
A dispute between Baltimore County police officers and a man that filmed them arresting two people in Towson, Maryland, is raising questions about civiliansâ rights to videotape cops.
Officers became combative when the bystander refused to put away his camera. One told the man to âget it out of my face.â Another officer told the man to âshut your fucking mouth or youâre going to jail.â The man later said, âI thought I had freedom of speech here,â to which an officer replied, âYou donât. You just lost it.â
Here's video:
You'd think police officers would be told in their training that civilians are allowed to film them at their job. But I guess in police culture, training is considered to be a kind of punishment, right? So maybe their training is just so traumatic that they forget everything they learned. Poor guys.
