Bitcoin Is Crumbling: But can an American bitcoin exchange save the day?

Can She Make SNL Funny Again? Lena Dunham will host Saturday Night Live next month.

There's a Marcus Bachmann Joke In Here Somewhere: Beard transplants are all the rage. Anyone want to Kickstart a beard for me? I still can't grow one.

Today In Dumb Questions: The man who designed a Confederate flag-themed Georgia license plate asks, "What's the big deal?"

You Might as Well Count Grains of Sand on a Beach: Some brave souls counted all the alcoholic beverages in short stories by Raymond Carver. (I came to this story via Book Patrol.)

Yeah, That's Godzilla, All Right: This Godzilla trailer is pretty great:

If it don't have little plastic tanks that stand still even when the wheels spin around, then it's not Godzilla.

Who Will Densify the Densifiers?

Washington State, land of the bombastic, puffed up, Do-As-I-Say-Not-As-I-Doers. What happens when suddenly the big real estate developers want to subdivide their own nests into smaller units just like they want want to do to regular Joes who are off the island? They vote it down (as reported after this story was filed by KOMO.)

Developer to raze Mercer Island mansion, put up 18 homes…

Why not Port of Seattle?

New Fuel Cell Project Aims to Make Port of Honolulu Greener

Clean hydrogen power will soon be arriving at the Port of Honolulu in Hawaii, in a project that’s expected to help lower emissions and reduce energy consumption.

Early next year, specially designed shipping containers powered by fuel cells and hydrogen will be used to keep refrigerated containers cool while they’re shipped on barges from island to island in Hawaii.

The project is being led by Sandia National Laboratories and funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (MARAD).…

@srotu - still stupid, but at least not posting as much as he used to.

the ゴジラ reboot looks better with every trailer i see. i hope this is released at the same time here as it is in the u.s. 'cause i waited 2.5 months to see Gravity here. worth the wait, but 9 times out of 10 the movie is on the internet before it hits here and so i don't go the cinema as much as i'd like. . .

On Carver, I'm interested to read The Trip to Echo Spring: On Writers and Drinking. It's Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, Tennessee Williams, John Berryman, John Cheever, and Raymond Carver.

First, read before you type....…

Second, if you want to talk about density on Mercer Island, before you open your mouth, you should realize that the place is zoned like other municipalities in King County, and we have our high density zone on the north end of the island, also known as the Central Business District. That density was earned on the basis of keeping it there, so anytime you have folks talking about converting a large single home into eighteen on the same property, not in the Central Business District, you're going to have a lot of discussion before you have anything approaching resolution.

Equating the failure of one BTC exchange to "Bitcoin crumbling" is like equating the Madoff Ponzi to "the US dollar is crumbling". Keep on pushing those uninformed mainstream media sensationalist headlines.

Godanmnit! They keep making remakes of Godzilla, so why can't they make a decent Doc Savage film, or at least bring back MacGuyver?

Cripes already!
