A 36-year-old man from Independence Township apparently shot and killed himself by accident while trying to demonstrate gun safety to his girlfriend after he had been drinking, authorities said.
Stories like this inevitably prompt Darwin Awards jokes in the comment threads, as if a drunken gun nut killing himself is okay, or something. But my God just think of all the drunken gun slingers out there endangering the rest of us.
