In celebration of World Spay Day (yes, that's a thing), Regional Animal Services of King County and Pasado's Safe Haven will offer $10 spay and neuter services for cats and dogs on February 25, plus free microchipping!

"Spaying and neutering is an effective way to save animals' lives," said RASKC Manager Dr. Gene Mueller. "Not only do fixed pets live longer, healthier lives, but spaying and neutering prevents unwanted animals from ending up in shelters."

Space is limited and all surgeries will be performed on a first-come/first-served basis starting at 7:30 am, at Pasado's Mobile Spay Station (yes, that's a thing), currently parked at the King County Pet Adoption Center, 21615 64th Ave. S. in Kent. Pet owners are advised to call Pasado's (206-300-7217) or go to their website to learn more about what you need to do to prepare your dog or cat for surgery.

UPDATE: Seattle Animal Control emails to tell me that they are also celebrating World Spay Day (again, a thing) with an even better deal for licensed Seattle pets:

Seattle Animal Shelter is also recognizing Spay Day with a promo. Our Spay & Neuter Clinic is offering free spay/neuter packages for all dogs, cats and rabbits scheduled for surgery Feb. 24-28, 2014. Microchips and vaccinations will also be offered free for animals having the surgery.

Free surgery, microchips, and vaccinations: that's a combined savings of up to $195!
