Look what Shutterstock came up with when I searched for a stock photo of Super Bowl. Because football!

Nervous about today's big game? Supremely confident? Already a little drunk? Looking forward to a relaxing afternoon shopping at a deserted Costco while the rest of your neighbors are paralyzed in front of their TVs? Well what better way to while away the hours before the 3:25 pm kickoff than hanging out in a Slog pre-game open thread? It's kinda like the bestest tailgate party ever, but without the beer, food, friends, or tailgate!

Personally, I'm approaching game time relatively stress free, as for me, the NFL season pretty much ended when the New Orleans Saints knocked my beloved Philadelphia Eagles out of the playoffs on a game winning field goal with no time left on the clock. (I'm already looking ahead to next season. When Emily Dickinson wrote "Hope is the thing with feathers," I'm pretty sure she was referring to my Eagles.) But as the only staff writer at The Stranger who actually cares about professional football, my expert opinion is that I don't know what to expect from this game. Normally, defense wins championships, and Seattle's defense is by far the best in the league this year (perhaps even better than the stats suggest). But on the other hand, Peyton Manning! Under Manning's leadership the Broncos scored a stunning 38 points a game during the regular season, and it's hard to believe that even the Seahawks can keep them off the board.

But what do you think?
