This Weekend's Calendar

Gosh it sure is nice out there. Isn’t it? The construction cranes look stunning against the blue sky. Go outside and look at the cranes when you have a chance, and get some fresh air before it becomes overcast again for the next five to seven months.

The Suggested event for today is a show at Town Hall. The Krar Collective (which is an Ethiopian Band centered around a six stringed lyre called the krar) and Seattle hiphop artist Gabriel Teodros.

And look at this piece of art. If you grew up playing video games, like me, this image is probably appealing to you in ways that you can't even understand or articulate. It's part of a show that just opened at G. Gibson gallery of some seriously SNES-looking paintings .

Happy Django Reinhardt’s birthday, yesterday. The Royal Room in Columbia City is having some sort of gypsy jazz birthday bash for the man tonight.

There’s a bunch of stuff happening in the world of theater and performance this weekend. Our suggested event for Sunday is a Montreal-based dance collective at On The Boards. Recommended productions of The Normal Heart, Richard II, and Jerry Springer: The Opera all continue as well.

The Children's Film festival is also happening right now at the Northwest Film Forum, and is the suggested event for tomorrow, and Women in Cinema also continues through the weekend at SIFF Cinema Uptown.
