Hi, let’s talk about recommended events for today, for a moment.

First of all, I’m pleased to say that there are no recommended book readings today. You’re definitely welcome to read quietly at home, but personally I recommend just avoiding books altogether for the next 24 hours.

Now, onto the wild and wacky world of visual art. Patti Warashina has a show of ceramic sculpture at the Davidson Galleries in Pioneer Square. If you’re a fan of Joanna Newsom, the artist who created the artwork for her album, Ys, has a show of his work at the Gage Academy (right next to St. Mark’s on Capitol Hill).

In pursuit of trivia? The Geeks Who Drink trivia night is happening at Scarecrow Video this evening at 7 pm, as it does every Tuesday. In case you haven’t been to the world’s greatest video store in a while, they now have espresso drinks, craft beers, and a lot of specialty candy and soda.

And finally, music, traditionally considered to be the Coolest with a capital C phylum in the arts and culture kingdom. The McTuff Trio is playing at SeaMonster, Crooks on Tape are playing at the Crocodile, Deadkill is playing at Easy Street Records (“it’s in West Seattle, but it’s free”—if you live in West Seattle read: “it’s in West Seattle, and it’s free!”)
