FRANKFORT, Ky. — A Kentucky state representative accidentally fired her semi-automatic handgun Tuesday afternoon in the Capitol annex office.

Representative Leslie Combs (D- Pikeville) says she was unloading a Ruger LCP .380 according to safety procedure when it accidentally fired. The bullet struck the floor and ricocheted into a bookcase.

When asked by reporters Wednesday to see where the gun was discharged, Combs declined and said she was putting the gun away because, "I don't want to use it anymore."

"I thought it was totally clear," Combs said. "I am a gun owner. It happens."

Well, it happens when you're gun owner. So nothing to worry about.
