By a coincidence, I finished "We Need New Names" by NoViolet Bulawayo a few weeks ago. A very good first novel. I don't tend to read current fiction. But, I believe it's the best debut work since "White Teeth" by Zadie Smith who I've actually met. I especially enjoyed the way she became a adolescent Zimbabwean girl coming of age in Detroit and Kalamazoo, MI . Fascinating language use as well. It's appears to be a quite candid account of her relationships with a wide spectrum of Americans especially, African-Americans. I recommended it to Charles Mudede.

Also, largely because of you I viewed "Undefeated" by Dan Lindsay & TJ Martin. I just saw it last week. A very good documentary. As good as the "The Interrupters" by Steve James, arguably America's finest documentary film maker. Thanks for the tip.
