Yesterday, when I called city council member Jean Godden "Jean 'Badass Bitch' Godden" in a relatively boring post about council committee assignments, I was a little nervous. I mean, not about using profanity or about giving nicknames to sitting politicians or anything. I just didn't want to call a female politician a "bitch" unless it was perfectly clear that I meant it in a reappropriated and complimentary way.
Looks like I didn't have to worry, because not only is she totally cool with it, she sent me a special video message yesterday afternoon (no, I didn't photoshop this):

She'll chair the committee next year set to address the city's gender pay gap (hence the hashtag there), an issue that's close to her heart, and mine. Hopefully without a messy and dude-filled mayoral race, city hall can actually get down to business addressing this issue specifically and concretely. Please?
