We interrupt Slog silence for this matter of importance!

In case you haven’t heard, Seattle’s greatest hometown heroes—that’s Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Pearl Jam, and (of course!) our own elf-powered blog, Slog—have joined forces this holiday season to raise money for YouthCare’s Orion Center. Together, we can keep our city's homeless youth safely fed, clothed, and sheltered for the next year—these kids are literally surviving day to day. YouthCare also takes them forward, with help with permanent housing, education, and jobs—help that no one else is going to give.

The question is: Whose fans will do the most to help our homeless youth? As this morning, we’ve raised $86,261.76! And as of this morning, Slog is not in the lead with, um, $9,923.35 raised. But that's okay! There's still plenty of time (until December 24th) for Slog fans to pull ahead and CRUSH Macklemore & Ryan Lewis fans ($34,988.14 raised) and Pearl Jam fans ($38,154.27 raised), proving that Slog fans are the best fans EVAAAARRR! (Note: We're still stronger than the 12th Man, who has only raised $965. That's right, SLOG BEATS SEAHAWKS!)

DONATE to YouthCare’s Orion Center now:

• Pearl Jam fans: GO HERE TO GIVE!
• Macklemore & Ryan Lewis fans: GO HERE TO GIVE!
• Slog fans: GO HERE TO GIVE!
• Seahawks/Seattlish fans: GO HERE TO GIVE and make a note who want your donation counted under!

Need an incentive to give, there, Grinchy? Our lovely neighbors to the north are here to light a polite fire under your ass. Canada, aka America’s Hat™, has donated a weekend getaway for two in beautiful Victoria, BC, including round-trip transportation from Port Angeles on the scenic Coho Ferry (with your friend and your car), a two-night stay at the historic and awesome Fairmont Empress Hotel, and two passes to the Victoria Butterfly Gardens (sounds festive!). Thanks, Canada (specifically, Tourism Victoria)! We will totally take Rob Ford off your hands—he belongs down here, anyway.

How do you win the fabulous Canadian getaway? Just donate by noon on Friday, December 20 (any amount counts!), then forward your receipt to us and tell us in 100 words or less why Canada and butterflies are the greatest. The best reason wins! The winner will be announced Friday afternoon on Slog.

The Holiday Charity Challenge goes through December 24th! Our goal is $100,000, to keep the Orion Center open seven days a week for the next year. Donate now! Fa la la la la!
