The Reality of the Mandela Death Response

Posted by on Fri, Dec 6, 2013 at 9:03 AM

From the great QT:

A couple of thoughts from the late Nelson Mandela:
+ “Overcoming poverty is not an act of charity. It is an act of justice.”
+ “A nation should not be judged by how it treats its highest citizens, but its lowest ones.”
As tributes continue to come in from dignitaries who never really listened to a word he said.

also:

QT Trickle-On Economics Update:
Bank CEO pay rose 22 percent last year while a third of the nation’s bank tellers needed public assistance.

It is all connected. We have growing economic apartheid in the US.

As a public education activist, this quote from him is important to me:

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."

So you and your brother are now on opposite sides of the apartheid?

Washington exists in a state of apartheid.

Wealthy Liberals in the cities (English)

Poor multi-ethnics in the poor neighborhoods (South Seattle=Soweto)

Conservative burghers in the rural areas (Afrikaans)

These groups rarely cross paths, but they talk about each other in the abstract a whole lot.
