We've got two huge readings up at Kane Hall in the University District tonight. Beloved Northwest weather expert Cliff Mass is giving a talk titled "Reading the Northwest Sky: Understanding Our Weather and Climate." And in another room in Kane Hall, Junot Díaz will be speaking. Díaz is one of the best readers I've ever seen. He's funny, smart, and laid-back in a way that most authors never manage to become. I recommend attending a reading by him anytime you can.
Also, as previously mentioned in Suggests, Brad Stone is reading at Town Hall tonight, too. Stone’sThe Everything Store looks behind the scenes at Amazon.com. He was reportedly given “unprecedented access” to the company’s secrets, and the book also features a long look at Jeff Bezos, who is the nation’s newest newspaperman. After the reading, Town Hall asked me to host a roundtable discussion about Amazon, which will happen in the bar area out in Town Hall's lobby. So if you want to talk about Amazon with me, you should show up at nine—admission is free for the roundtable—or stay through the Stone reading.
