The School of Visual Concepts is putting on its 12th annual Letterpress Wayzgoose and Steamroller Smackdown tomorrow.

Learn about the art of letterpress, buy prints and other items, and watch them make giant letterpress prints with a two-ton steamroller. Neat! This year, they are pairing 16 local museums with 16 design teams to create their own posters.

The Wayzgoose runs Saturday, September 7, 1 to 6 p.m. at the School of Visual Concepts, 500 Aurora Avenue North, and it's free!

As a designer who typically relies on pixels, watching the hands-on inking and then the steamroller-pressing is a neat change of pace. Go later in the day, when all five stories of balconies are festooned with drying posters. Also, hot dogs and bluegrass.
