Lorna Leedy drew funerals for her friends.
In 2009, Lorna Leedy asked friends for a list of the 20 people they most admired, then unbeknownst to them, turned the lists into sweet drawings of those friends' imaginary funerals. Twelve of the drawings go on display tonight during Art Walk, at Lundgren Monuments.
Also up tonight: Cara Jaye's studies of falling figures she's isolated from studying the art at the Louvre (because "in the end, everyone falls," she wrote in an email when I asked why falling), at PUNCH; Nola Avienne and six abstractionists with funny edges at SOIL; the fighting Roger Shimomura and the exquisite Lynne Woods Turner and Léonie Guyerat Greg Kucera; Portland artist Patrick Driscoll's unstretched canvas paintings as well as the drop cloths that caught what dropped below, at James Harris; and lots and lots and lots more.
