  • Seattle fast food and low-wage strikers managed respectable turnouts despite bouts of heavy rain.

Seattle's participation in today's nationwide fast food and low-wage worker strike ended in a typically Seattle fashion, with a crowd of soaking wet protesters standing outside a Capitol Hill Panera in the pouring rain, chanting an improvised "Rain, rain, go away, give your workers higher pay!" It was a successful if soggy end to a day that achieved it's primary goal of keeping the plight of low-wage workers in the the public eye, and continuing the drumbeat for a higher minimum wage.

More detailed thoughts in the morning, but I'd say that, what with the expansion of the strike to Tacoma and local baristas, Seattle more than carried its weight as part of today's 60-city action.
