Syrian Electronic Army Allegedly Takes Down the New York Times's Website

Posted by on Tue, Aug 27, 2013 at 2:16 PM

Nytimes.com is down right now. The Verge explains why:

The New York Times' website is down as a result of a "malicious external attack," according to an official Times statement provided to The Atlantic Wire. The website has reportedly been in and out of service since 3PM EST, when it first became unavailable. The attack appears to the work of the Syrian Electronic Army (SEA), a group of hackers that claim to be promoting the Assad regime. The paper had been reporting on the recent Syrian chemical attacks, which may have attracted the SEA's attention.

Where will we go for information? If only the New York Times provided paper archives of all their news!

A few years ago I worked for the New York Times. And one day, I was really hungry for news, I hadn't read a single blog during my 8 hour shift. So I saw a part of tha Arts & Leisure section in the trashcan, pulled it out and started to read. Not cool, I was fired.

Good think Obama is taking all our ground troops out of the Middle East.

Let's get out of there now.

Sounds like all hell is breaking loose.

Great strategic move, Democrats!

@3, numb nuts, our being there in the first place is what fucking caused them to hate our guts. That and our blind support of Israel no matter what.
