Christopher Anderson, the biologist featured in my piece about local pigeons with bad feet, practically walked out of the woods (where he had been dealing with bats for two days) and called me to point out that the condition of the foot in the excellent picture by Elizabeth Baddeley is called bumblefoot. He also told me that the citizens of this city almost never leave human hair for birds but now and then do leave dog hair. He also thinks that pigeon shit is as bad as the shit of any other kind of bird.
