(UPDATE 11:14 AM: This post has been updated to reflect the fact that the transcript of Priebus's comments were wrong; he did not say "that's racist," he said "it hurts us." He did call Romney's comments "horrific," though.)

ORIGINAL POST: RNC Chair Reince Preibus, who oversaw the embarrassing defeat of the Republican Party in 2012 and somehow still remains the man in charge of the Republican Party, is desperately trying to prove that Republicans believe Latinos are actual human beings, too. Jason Sattler at The National Memo writes:

In an effort to reshape the debate over immigration reform, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Preibus harshly criticized Mitt Romney’s self-deportation comments trom the 2012 GOP primary while speaking to reporters on Thursday.

Republican leaders have long feared the current dialogue could doom the party with Latino voters in a repeat of the 2007 reform effort, which was shut down by a revolt by the GOP base.

“Using the word ‘self-deportation’ — it’s a horrific comment to make,” Priebus said. “I don’t think it has anything to do with our party. When someone makes those comments, obviously, it’s racist it hurts us.”

Where was this big, tough guy back when Romney was actually saying those words? Probably raising money for Romney. He didn't have the balls to call Romney out for being a racist saying horrific things last year when Romney was the party nominee. And why is that? Probably because he didn't think Romney was being a racist horrific last year. But now that he's seen the numbers and he realizes that the Republican Party can't win a national race without at least one minority on their side, he's "bravely" calling Romney out for his racism horrific comments. Does he really think this is going to work? What a craven, calculating little turd Reince Priebus is. I look forward to the day when his party dumps his idiot ass.
