When you add in the ballots that arrived this morning, King County Elections now has about 250,000 ballots returned out of 1,187,886 registered voters. That's about 21 percent, pretty much on target for KCE's projected 33 percent countywide turnout.

By comparison, the county had 32 percent turnout in the 2009 August primary, with 38 percent turnout in Seattle's hotly contested mayor's race. As of yesterday, Seattle's turnout was tracking only about a percentage point ahead of the county's.

That's okay, but it's not great. So if you don't want your November ballot narrowed by the primary's disproportionately older and more conservative electorate, then vote, goddammit!

There's still time, but remember, your ballot must be postmarked by today, or deposited by 8 p.m. in one of 25 drop boxes and drop vans conveniently located throughout the county:

Can't find your ballot? You can go online and print out a new one! You can even return your ballot via email or fax (really!), although you'll have to follow up by mailing in a signed copy before the August 20 certification deadline. If you have any questions, KCE chief communications officer Kim van Ekstrom urges you to call KCE's election hotline at 206-296-VOTE (8683). "There's a full phone bank staffed and ready to answer your questions," say van Ekstrom.

Don't let the terrorists win! Fill out your ballot, and vote!

UPDATE: Oh yeah. If you haven't made up your mind, vote this way.
