Back during the dark ages of the special session, when state Senator Ed Murray was still in the midst of an extended fundraising freeze, Murray's "people" got together to even the playing field by creating an independent Political Action Committee—"People for Ed Murray"—through which people like the Washington Restaurant Association, the Washington Beverage Association, and the Seattle Chamber of Commerce could give unlimited contributions. Altogether, Murray's people have raised about $68,000 thus far for this totally independent PAC. Hooray for people power!

Well it turns out that incumbent Mayor Mike McGinn has people too! Yesterday UNITE HERE Local 8, the union representing local hotel and restaurant works, registered a PAC in support of McGinn, funded by a $50,000 contribution from its national parent. Hooray for people power!

So far, no PACs in support of Bruce Harrell or Peter Steinbrueck or the rest of the field. Apparently, they don't have people. :(
