I spent much of the day at City Hall, where some members of city council were discussing the plight of Seattle's fast food workers in light of the recent strike. I wanted to live-tweet and write a post while it was all going on, but the internet was down, down, down. I just got a frowny-face screen over and over; the internet there is often spotty. Even people who work in the building agree that the crappy internet service is a pain in the ass.

Rushing out the door to find the nearest place with wi-fi—anywhere, please!—I realized the perfect place was just blocks away, and it's also a public building. A cavernous place, where the halls are neon and the crowds are weird, but the light is always beautiful and the internet is always on:

Thank you, SPL! More of substance on the council discussion momentarily. I just wanted to share a moment of civic frustration and civic pride from inside this giant glass honeycomb.
