If you're interested in freelancing as a science writer or just want to hear some smart people discuss writing about science, this is the event for you. The authors of The Science Writers' Handbook: How freelance science writers stay solvent, stay sane, and tell stories that matter
will be sharing their knowledge at University House (4400 Stone Way N) this evening at 7:30 pm. From the event website:

Come and hear four of the book’s co-authors talk about how the project came together and what they’ve learned.

Virginia Gewin covers environmental issues—from food security to acidifying oceans to endangered species—from her perch in Portland and wrote about achieving an elusive work-life balance for The Science Writers’ Handbook.

Emma Marris is a freelance writer specializing in science and the environment and a resident-to-be of Klamath Falls, Oregon; she wrote about how to sell a book in The Science Writers’ Handbook.

Bryn Nelson, a Seattle-based freelancer writer who specializes in science, environmental and medical reporting, wrote about avoiding domestic disasters with your significant other for The Science Writers’ Handbook.

Michelle Nijhuis, an award-winning journalist and new resident of White Salmon, Wash., writes about science, the environment and the American West and served as co-editor for The Science Writers’ Handbook.
