Tom Tomorrow Is My Hero

Posted by on Mon, May 6, 2013 at 7:39 AM

. . . because he's always funny and smart at the same time.

And some video of what can happen when a gun nut gets pulled over for blowing a stop sign.

From the Cleveland Plain Dealer (http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf…

Stanko said Gilkerson was shot several times, but kept firing. During the gunfight, Gilkerson shouted, "Kill me."

Sounds like suicide by cops. Thankfully the two officers are ok. Of course availability of AK-47s have nothing to do with the danger of the situation. If he had a revolver or knife, things still would have escalated just as quickly.

That's not a "gun nut," that's a "felon." Big difference. (Gun nuts hit what they're shooting at.)

One may disagree with Tom Tomorrow's politics, but you have to admit he is almost always pretty damn correct in his analysis.

@4: Your correct transliteration of thorn in bingo square two makes you my pick for winner of Ye Olde Internet for the day.

I'm a big fan of Tom Tomorrow. It is worth noting that The Daily Show ran almost the exact same piece. I have no idea who came it up with it first. My guess is that both wrote the same thing independently, in any event.

I have to admit, the class description at the end of that article sounds pretty fucking fun.

Wow, perfect summary. It's maddening how hypocritical holding those two positions at once it, and yet it gets almost no attention in the media.

As usual, Tom Tomorrow nails it, to the instant discomfort and vocal protestations of mischaracterization by those being satirized (see #2, 3, 4).

@11, minor issue that Congress wouldn't let Obama close Gitmo because it would be a success for him. Similar to blocking all gun control measures, judicial appointments and even the process of making appointments.

@12, not a minor issue, or even a real one, because Obama had no intention of "closing" Gitmo, but of simply relocating it. They wouldn't let him move it to the U.S.. He's always been capable of releasing the prisoners who have been cleared by the courts. He refuses to.

Any other minor issues on Obama's hypocrisies?
