What Do You Think of the Red 2 Trailer?

Posted by on Mon, Apr 29, 2013 at 1:22 PM

Three years ago, Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, and Helen Mirren starred in Red, a movie about retired spies who get called back into work, even though they're all too old for this shit. Now, in Red 2, they're even older for this shit, and they get pulled back into action again, with even more actors who are too old for this shit. Shit, presumably, ensues.

Just finished Gun Machine, that would be a good movie.

Some very weird choices with photoshopping those cast cut-outs, but otherwise, looks like great fun.

Are they working in an old folks home? Will they get into high speed chases with their walkers? Is the villain stealing their Geritol? I'm sure the excitement will make the key demographic for this movie shit their Depends in excitement.

I thought the "retirement porn" genre had finally run its course.

I'm a bit ashamed to admit that I'm actually looking forward to this.

I reluctantly went with friends to see the first Red, thinking it looked completely stupid. But I ended up enjoying it, despite my preconceptions. Not gonna win any academy awards, obviously, but a fun movie nevertheless.

So unless the reviews for Red 2 end up being really awful, I'll probably go see this.

Should be good. The first one was fun, this one looks fun too.

And, since I'm "that guy," I have to point out that unlike the comic, the title of the movie isn't Red, it's RED, short for "Retired, Extremely Dangerous"

@1 re: Gun Machine

"Television rights for the film have been sold to 20th Century Fox TV and Chernin Entertainment."

Look, if you put Helen Mirren in your movie as a stone cold badass I will go see it. The rest of the cast is whatever; I'm there to watch Dame Helen kick ass and chew bubblegum.

@9 - Unfortunately, the bubble gum budget was cut for the sequel.

I'm still boycotting DC for not apologizing for OSC on Superman. But I loved the original RED. So, they lost me as a ticket buyer.

@8, thanks. The killer is maybe a little silly, but I found the 'dangers of privatizing the police angle' interesting.

One of the poll options should be "I'll watch anything with Helen Mirren." Because I will.
